Obtain Listed Building Consent for a replacement roof to the converted top floor extension. Assess condition survey provided and make recommendations for a scope of exterior renovation work to utilise the scaffolding most effectively.

The Challenge

 

The roof coverings over the extension carried out in the early 2000's had begun to fail in certain key areas and replacement was recommended. We conducted detailed investigations to evaluate the condition, the likely weak points and the most appropriate long term renovation specification. A well designed and specified roof should not require replacement after only 20 years.

 

The Design Solution

 

Replacing the roof of a listed building requires careful design and specification to ensure heritage constraints are fully addressed and approved and to ensure technical compatibility with traditional building fabric. Our care and diligence to attend to these constraining factors ensured that a comprehensive proposal was consented without complex or onerous conditions being imposed by Westminster's Conservation team.
